In India Mahashivratri, This year’s biggest celebration respecting Lord Shiva, (mahashivratri 2025 mein kab hai) Mahashivratri, will take place on February 26, 2025, date and time – Wed, 26 Feb, 2025, 11:08 am – Thu, 27 Feb, 2025, 8:54 am. Recognizing what things are appropriate to eat during the fast and what should be banned is crucial for devotees completing the fast.
Mahashivratri 2025: What to Eat and What to Avoid During the Fast?
What should eat while Fasting:
- Foods made with Singhara powder: You can eat foods made with singhara flour, and halwa, pakoras, and puris.
- Foods made with Kuttu Flour: Kuttu flour can be used to make and eat foods like kheer, puri, or kachori.
- Fruits & Dry Fruits: Every kind of fruits, dry fruits, and fox nuts (makhanas) can be eaten while the fast.
- Dairy Products: People can have milk, curd, paneer, and desserts made with them, like makhana kheer and coconut barfi.
- Preparations with Sendha Salt(namak): You can put sendha salt in aloo dum (potato) and other dishes.
- Thandai: A drink created with almonds, fennel, rose, & other herbs is known as thandai.
What should not Eat While Fasting:
- Grain: Steer clear of whole grains, such as rice, lentils, or wheat.
- Tamasic foods: Alcohol, pig, fish, onions, and garlic are examples of tamasic foods.
- Normal Salt: Avoid the use of ordinary salt while the fast; only sendha salt is suitable
- Grain-based desserts : Eat only grain-free sweets instead of those prepared with wheat or rice flour.
Other essential Fasting guidelines:
- Brahmacharya: Devotees must uphold celibacy through the fast, or brahmacharya.
- Spiritual Purity: Skip tamasic foods ,especially onions and garlic, as they may effect spiritual purity.
- Manner of Fasting: In the evening, devotees must do the Shiva Linga puja. People can also take fruits or keep an entire fast.
According to these regulations, devotees can take full pleasure of Lord Shiva’s blessings during Mahashivratri.
