A software company’s decade of engineering addressing India’s most urgent power problem.
MOHALI, PUNJAB: India has solved cheap electricity. Solar is now the least expensive power the country has ever generated, and it retires at sunset, exactly when homes light up, factories run their evening shifts, and tariffs peak. The gap between noon and night has become this decade’s defining energy problem. Electres, the battery energy-storage brand of tecHindustan, was founded in 2023 to close it.
THE PARENT COMPANY: A DECADE OF ENGINEERING
A leading IT services and product-engineering company, tecHindustan was founded in 2015 in Mohali, Punjab, by Satish Saini. Today, tecHindustan serves more than 800 clients worldwide, over 80 of them in the energy sector, with a team of 200-plus engineers spanning IT solutions, cloud engineering, IoT, and, increasingly, next-generation energy: battery storage and EV charging. Electres is the natural extension of that journey: a company that spent more than a decade writing energy software decided to put it into hardware.
WHY A SOFTWARE COMPANY BUILDS BATTERIES
“Lithium cells come from a few factories worldwide; every serious brand get that from the same brands,” says Harshil Gupta, co-founder and CEO of Electres. “Intelligence separates a storage system that quietly pays for itself from one that quietly disappoints: when it charges, when it releases, and how it protects every cell for a decade. That is a software issue, and we have done that for over a decade.”
Electres systems use lithium iron phosphate chemistry, chosen for thermal stability and long cycle life, and are monitored through Electres’ own energy-management and remote monitoring platform. The company’s leadership brings over 40 years of combined energy-industry expertise.
ONE PLATFORM, EVERY SCALE
The range runs from a bedroom wall to a grid substation. Home 5 is a slim, silent 5 kWh wall unit for household essentials and solar self-use; Home 16 is a 16 kWh high-voltage system for whole-home backup. For commercial buildings and light industry, the HV Rack series offers modular capacity from 30 to 160 kWh, while Pro 261 packs 261 kWh into a single liquid-cooled cabinet built to retire the diesel generator. At the top sits Grid 5000, which packs 5.016 MWh into a 20-foot container for utilities, solar parks, and industrial campuses. This year, Electres also introduced its own hybrid inverters, sold with Home 5 as a complete “5/5” solar-plus-storage system.
Every system is sized on measured load data, the customer’s outage history, and engineering headroom for degradation, and the return-on-investment report is shared with its assumptions visible before any commercial conversation. The products are engineered for Indian realities: 50°C summers, unstable grids, hourly tariffs, and diesel as everyday infrastructure.
BUILDING THE NETWORK
Electres sells through solar EPCs, dealers, and distributors, with early customers across Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala. The company is further expanding in Tamil Nadu, Punjab, and Haryana. From October 2026, it is the Official Associate Sponsor of the Haryana Green Energy Roadshow, a 10-city programme supported by the Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) and the Haryana Energy Department, running on Sundays from Palwal to a final summit in Chandigarh. Partners receive sizing and return-modelling support on every quote, training, and protection on registered opportunities.
“A battery is a 10-year promise,” says Satish Saini. “We built Electres on a company that has already kept an 11-year one.”
