The company profile
Metro Group is a US $140 million diversified conglomerate, encompassing Metro Tyres Limited and Metro International. With a robust presence in the automotive sector, the Group operates seven state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, all certified under ISO 9001:2008 standards.
These advanced facilities specialise in producing high-quality tyres and tubes for bicycles, motorcycles, scooters, and 3-wheelers. Over the years, Metro Tyres has solidified its position as an industry leader, known for its commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction, driving growth both domestically and internationally.
Tracing the inspiring history
The group has witnessed quite an eventful journey since its inception. Ludhiana became the land from which these remarkable beginnings happened. Majorly all cycle plants are located in this famous city of Punjab.
“Even today, over 70% of cycle manufacturing is based out of Ludhiana. The conditions in Ludhiana in 1968 were very conducive for manufacturing. This would include the environment, labour availability, water, power, and, of course, the basic infrastructure.
Our founder, Mr. Man Singh, had the vision to see the potential of Ludhiana as a manufacturing hub for cycles and ancillaryrelated manufacturing. Hence, he decided to set up manufacturing in Ludhiana. I have been personally and fully associated with the company since 1976. Today, as Chairman & Managing Director, I have to oversee the entire operations of the conglomerate,” remarked Mr. Chhabra about the genesis of the organisation.

• Metro Group’s strong distribution network is supported by its marketing offices in over 50 cities. They have 51 fully operational sales offices in all states of India. On a very conservative figure, their offices are in constant touch with over 10,000 cycle retailer shops and over 5,000 auto retailers.
• Metro Group’s strategic technical collaboration and outsourcing agreement with Continental AG, Germany.

Customer feedback is the key. Every employee at the company knows the power of customer feedback. Mr. Chhabra elucidated, “We have a process for acquiring feedback from our clients, especially on the OE side. Any constructive feedback generated is quickly worked upon.”

As per what Mr. Chhabra emphasised, the Indian tyre industry is undergoing a huge gargantuan tech change driven by tech advances for improved performance that could ensure safety as well as sustainability.
