Lexus India just entered the Indian EV market with the introduction of the new Lexus ES 500e electric vehicle. In addition to the electric 500e, the sedan will still be available with a petrol-hybrid setup called the 350h, the cost of which will be disclosed later. With an ex-showroom price of Rs 89.9 lakh, the new ES 500e will be sent to India through the CKD method. The eighth-generation Lexus ES offers a new all-electric engine option, extra services, and a completely revised appearance and cabin.
Battery, range
The electric car is powered by a 74.69 kWh battery pack and twin electric motors that provide 343 horsepower and 438 nm of torque. It is built on the same TNGA-K architecture as the Toyota Camry. It has an 11kWh AC home charger and is said to have a range of 580 km on a single full charge. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol-hybrid engine with an e-CVT spread powers the hybrid ES 350h, which will be released later.
The electric motor generates 120 horsepower and 202 Nm, while the petrol engine generates 178 horsepower and 221 Nm. The system’s total output is rated at 247 horsepower.
Design
In terms of look, the sedan has a new front with Z-shaped indicators and L-shaped DRLs, and the primary headlights are lowered inside gloss black components. A smoother middle piece with a smaller lower air inlet and patterned decoration has taken the place of the spindle grille. Sharper lines that continue into the fenders are added to the bonnet, and vertical air ducts at the bumper edges increase breadth and facilitate airflow.
The ES has a more streamlined design with new alloy wheels, flat door handles, an aerodynamic crease with gloss black accents, and a defined shoulder line. Airflow is improved by the sloping roofline with a Kamm-tail shape. The major component at the back is a full-width LED light bar with lighted “LEXUS” writing, L-shaped reflectors, and a sharper boot edge.
The sedan’s dimensions have also increased; it is now 5,145 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, 1,575 mm high, and has a 2,950 mm wheelbase. The business claims that it has been increased by 20 mm expressly for the Indian market, with a ground clearance of 158 mm.
Interior and features
The modified Lexus ES has fewer physical buttons and has a more simplified interior layout with more emphasis on digital controls. The center console has touch-capacitive controls, and a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen with over-the-air update capabilities is used to access the majority of features. The dashboard has a horizontal, tiered design with ambient lighting, metallic accents, and soft-touch materials. The layout is driver-focused.
A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a three-spoke steering wheel with physical controls, a head-up display, memory-equipped powered front seats, heating and ventilation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, a Mark Levinson sound system, and an electrochromic glass roof are among its features. Additional features include an ADAS suite, wireless charging, USB ports, multi-zone temperature control, and an automated parking brake.
Additional room and reclining seats, together with optional ottomans and massage features, are beneficial for rear passengers. Features consist of.
