Ruralnomics Pvt. Ltd., a newly launched e-commerce platform, is leading the way and revolutionizing the e-commerce and supply service in the Northeast with its cutting-edge delivery solutions.
Incepted in 2022, Ruralnomics is an innovative endeavour of Siddharth Das and Elvee S. Marbaniang, based in Shillong, Meghalaya. Their vision is to be the most respected e-commerce venture in the food technology and health technology space by 2025.
Siddharth and Elvee believe that the markets for fresh meat, fish, and health services are underserved and set out to become the leaders in these two areas, with maximum customer acquisition and affordable services across the North East, targeting its 4.5 million households across 32 districts.
Backed by its dedicated employees and visionary leaders, Ruralnomics has successfully catered to 75000+ customer orders with a potential CLV (annual) of 12000 INR per customer through both offline ground sales and online sales channels in the last 2 years.
The distinctive approach of Ruralnomics to fusing technology with the transitional business ecosystem has allowed the enterprise to tie in customers, suppliers, distributors, and payment gateways and to have the first market penetration advantage by ensuring that Ruralnomics reaches every district in the Northeast.
The Remarkable Initiatives of Ruralnomics
Ruralnomcis is actively operating two major brands: Runofresh and Runo Health. Runofresh is the first direct-to-consumer (D2C) online and offline business offering fresh fish and meat. RunoHealth is the first fully integrated D2C health services platform in India, including both B2C and B2B health services across their whole life cycle.
Although the founders had the option to start their business in the metropolises, they decided to incorporate their venture in the North East. During their research, they were sure that the rural and agricultural sector, especially the North East, was a long unserved zone.
Creating an Impact
The visionary leaders, Siddharth Das and Elvee S. Marbaniang, intended to prove the MVP model and then scale it up across Pan India. It had been very difficult in the beginning to convince customers, but thanks to a strong ground presence and controlled go-live, they were able to penetrate district by district. Thanks to the digitalization effort of the central government, which helped them win trust with friendly UI and best-in-class service in some of the remotest areas of the northeast.
The company currently have a great deal of support from their local distributors, suppliers, and consumers for their dedication, and they have a very promising 35% repeat customers across 4 locations in the Northeast. Initially, orders were coming through influencer pages and WhatsApp, but as time has gone on, they have started to receive orders through their apps, which speaks volumes about the customer trust they have won in the last 24 months. Ruralnomics was able to raise three prominent seed rounds from Angel Investors, Prime Hub, and NEDFI. The total raised so far is 60 lakhs.

Dr. Elvee Silcheng Marbaniang, Director
Dr Elvee Silcheng Marbaniang, the cofounder and director of Ruralnomics, is a practising general physician and an alumnus of the prestigious Christian Medical College in Vellore. He has over 5 years of experience and association with various secondary and tertiary medical institutions in the state of Meghalaya.
His exposure to the healthcare challenges in rural and urban settings gives him a clearer picture of what RunoHealth’s vision and objectives should be. His dynamic and charismatic personality, coupled with his acute knowledge of the transformations in the healthcare industry, empowers the entire RunoHealth team to be mission- and vision-driven with the sole objective of achieving their goal.
