TATA Motors To Manufacture Jaguar Land Rover In India In Its $1 Billion Plant

As per a report by Reuters, Tata Motors subsidiary of tech-to-vehicle conglomerate Tata Sons is looking forward to boost its luxury vehicle range Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) manufacturing unit at its new manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu. With an estimated investment of $1 billion dollars. Taking forward the “Make In India” this will be the first time that JLR cars which come under Tata’s luxury car category to be manufactured from scratch, to the end assembling, everything would be made and assembled in India.

Earlier, in March Tata Motors gave speculation regarding the operation, however they haven’t officially announced anything yet. Acquiring JLR in 2008, Tata Motor has significantly improved its operations over the years.
Moreover JLR contributes to two-third of Tata Motors Revenue in the fiscal year 2022-23. Financial year 2023-24 saw an annual increase in the sales of luxury marque by 81% by selling 4,436 cars, which is the highest recorded sales after its launch in the Indian market in 2009.
Major reasons for JLR that has led to such exceptional performance in the Indian market includes, increasing demand of SUVs, increasing year-on-year launches of new models. Recently, the newly launched Discovery Sport saw a phenomenal 50% growth rate, while the Range Rover Evoque saw an annual growth of 55%.
