The trailer of the much-anticipated Malayalam film Maranamass, starring Basil Joseph in the lead, has been officially released, giving audiences a glimpse into a rollercoaster of fun, chaos, and action. Directed by Sivaprasad, the film is slated to hit theaters on April 10, 2025.
Maranamass introduces a world where comedy and crime collide. The trailer kicks off with the mention of a menacing serial killer who has emerged as a new threat, feared to be the most dangerous criminal since the notorious Ripper Chandran. Babu Antony steps into the shoes of Ajay Ramachandran IPS, the cop assigned to bring the killer to justice. To ramp up the chase, the government announces a ₹10 lakh cash reward for anyone who captures the fugitive.
Basil Joseph takes on the role of a rebellious and charismatic troublemaker, famously introduced as the ‘Angry Young Star’. Sporting a bold and stylish look, his funky avatar adds a vibrant layer to the trailer. Alongside Basil, the film features Rajesh Madhavan, Anishma Anilkumar, and Siju Sunny in key roles.
The story has been penned by Siju Sunny, who also collaborated with director Sivaprasad to co-write the dialogues. Maranamass is produced by actor Tovino Thomas, Rapheal Pozholiparambil, Tingston Thomas, and Thanzeer Salam. The film’s technical crew includes Sanu John Varghese as the cinematographer and Justin Varghese as the music composer.
This marks Basil Joseph’s return to the big screen after his appearance in Ponman, directed by Jothish Shankar, which also featured Sajin Gopu, Deepak Parambol, and Lijomol Jose. With a gripping plot, quirky characters, and a promise of full-on entertainment, Maranamass is shaping up to be one of the most exciting Malayalam releases of the year.
